Three characteristics define Brightfind’s team: honest, creative, and skillful. One aspect of being honest is embracing our humanity and caring deeply care about causes near and dear to the hearts of our staff, partners, and clients. Charity is an essential part of our corporate culture, and we’re taking big steps to foster this in 2016.
For example, earlier this year, we organized a team to join "Lympho-maniacs" in raising money and walking on behalf of cancer survivors at Make-A-Wish Foundation's Walk for Wishes 5K in Washington, DC.
Brightfind's New Giving Committee
We also recently formed a Corporate Giving Committee to become more organized in our philanthropy and volunteerism. This committee is tasked with identifying, evaluating, presenting, and contributing to causes that our employees, partners, and clients care about. Each Brightfind employee is encouraged to annually take two days of paid social responsibility leave to volunteer in the community.
Delcor's .org Community Food Drive
The Giving Committee's first mission: participate in Delcor’s annual .org Community Food Drive. While we are a long time partner in this food drive, this year we’re more intentionally involving and engaging Brightfind employees in the process. That’s why we brought in Molly McGlichy, Director of Food Resources at the Capital Area Food Bank, to educate our team about solving hunger and strengthening our community.
So far Delcor’s efforts have resulted in $16,653 toward our collective goal of raising $18,000 for the local food bank. Brightfind’s team has pitched in $550 so far, and you can join us in contributing, too. Here’s Brightfind’s Community Food Drive team page. Hurry, though, because tomorrow is the last day!
"Face Hunger" Event
In conjunction with the .org Community Food Drive, Delcor hosts Face Hunger, a hands-on simulation and discussion that gives attendees the unique opportunity to learn more about the real people in our community who face hunger daily. It will be at Personify’s headquarters in Tyson’s Corner on May 25th from 6-7:30pm. The event is free, although you do need to RSVP.
